Karratha Gas Plant – Custom Housing for Camera in a Compressor

The Woodside Karratha Gas Plant has five process trains which require periodic shutdown and maintenance. Part of the process involves a large gas compressor that is regulated with internal vanes in a pressurised chamber. As these parts of these vanes can wear, inspection is required which requires full depressurisation and purging of the system. Woodside approached AEC and RemSense to design a system which an internal camera mounted to the inside of a manhole cover could be used to monitor mechanical wear or damage and extend the time required between full train process shutdowns to maximise production.
