West White Rose CGS – Specialist Heavy Lift Options Assessment

Onshore construction of the Concrete Gravity Structure (CGS) for the West White Rose Project, offshore eastern Canada, was at risk of missing the target date for readiness for offshore mating with the topsides. Specialist offshore installation equipment for the mating was already contracted for a specific time window, hence missing the date would result in project delays in the order of 12 months, along with significant cost implications. AEC was engaged by SDP to undertake a study of worldwide heavy lift cranage options to enable modularisation of onshore construction lifts in order to accelerate the schedule.
